Dear __________,

Happy Easter! It is a new year and Easter has come once again. I see that you are doing well at home and in school. You have been a pretty good kid! I know how hard you are trying to do the things that you should. It is difficult sometimes to follow the rules that your teacher and your parents want you to, but we must always keep trying to do our best because it is very important

I have brought you some goodies this year that I think you will enjoy. I know how much you like the surprises that I bring you. Try not to eat too much of it at once though or you may get a tummy ache and that would not feel good. Just eat a little at a time and save the rest for another day. Now that is a good idea, don’t you think? One time I ate too many carrots and too many eggs and boy did my tummy hurt! I will never, ever do that again!

I want you to enjoy all of the nice things that I brought you and do what your parents and teacher want you to do. Please remember to clean your room, eat your vegetables and other good food, help your parents around the house, do your homework and be good to your family. Also, brush your teeth! I have to go and visit all of the other boys and girls in the world now so I must leave your treats and hippity-hop away! Stay good and sweet like you have been doing and I will stop and visit you again next year!

Love,

The Easter Bunny

Valentines Day History

Valentine’s Day occurs annually on February 14th and is celebrated in the name of St. Valentine. But the question arises as to who is this saint and what is history of Valentine’s Day?

Valentine History

The Valentine’s day History is shrouded in mystery and there is lot of confusion regarding the Saint. But it is for sure that February is the month of romance. Three different saints named Valentine are recognized by the Catholic Church. All these saints are considered as martyred.

One of the legends contend that Valentine was a priest. This priest served Rome during the third century. At this time, Emperor Claudius II decided that unmarried soldiers are better than the married ones. Thus he outlawed marriage for young soldiers. Valentine realized this injustice and performed marriages in secret for the young lovers. But as Claudius came to know this, Valentine was put to death. But here are also other suggestions. Some stories depict that the saint might have been killed for helping the Christians escape the tough Roman prisons.

Another legend suggests that the first ‘valentine’ greeting was send by Valentine. It is a common belief that when Valentine was in prison, he fell in love with a girl. This girl was the daughter of the jailor and visited Valentine during his days of confinement. He wrote a letter to her just before his death and signed as ‘From your Valentine’. This expression is used in this era also. The real truth behind the legends of Valentine is still murky but the stories reflect his heroic, sympathetic and romantic personality and appeal.

Valentine was one of the popular saints in France and England in the Middle Ages.

Some opine that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in mid February for commemorating Valentine’s death anniversary which was around 270 A.D. Others believe that Valentine’s feast was organized in mid February in order to ‘Christianize’ the pagan Lupercalia festival. Lupercalia dedicated to the Roman God of agriculture, Faunus, is a fertility festival. In this festival, the members of the Luperci would come together at the sacred cave where the infants Remus and Romulus were said to be cared by a lupa or a she-wolf. The gathered priests would sacrifice a dog for purification and a goat for fertility. Then the goathide strips were taken across the streets for gently slapping on women and the crops.

It was believed that the strips would make the women more fertile. Later, the women had to place their names in a huge urn. The bachelors of the city had to choose individual names of the women from the urn and then they were paired for at least one year. These pairs often resulted in marriages. Around 498 A.D, February 14th was declared as Saint Valentine’s Day by Pope Gelasius. In France and England, it was a common belief that Valentine’s Day is the mating season of the birds. The oldest valentine which exists today is a poem written by the Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was in prison of Tower of London.

Valentine’s Day was celebrated around the seventeenth century in Great Britain. Friends and lovers exchanged tokens of gifts and love. At present, Valentine’s Day ranks second among the largest card-sending holidays.

Fabulous 13th Birthday Party Ideas

When you become thirteen, the big deal is the “teen” on the end. You are now a teenager!
You have talked to your folks and got them to agree to a party. Is it going to be at home or somewhere else?

There is always ten-pin bowling, ice skating or a fun-fair if you live near a beach or beautiful park? You could have a slumber party, indulge in pizza and chocolate. After all, you are only thirteen once! Another idea could be that you and your friends all go and see your favorite singer or band if they are performing anywhere near you at the time.

If is to be at home, will it be traditional or are you going to choose a theme? A traditional party is a rarity these days, with you, your friends and family laughing and having a great time. Decorations could be traditional too, with balloons, paper plates and cups, streamers and ribbons.

To be a truly traditional party, all the food should be home-made as well. Then there are the old party games such as musical chairs or maybe a piñata. For the food, there really is nothing more traditional than hamburgers and hot dogs and cake and ice cream. You never know, you could start a whole new trend going back to a traditional party.

Themes

For a theme, you have an endless list such as sports, celebrities, films, pop stars and TV programs. There is always the theme of the number thirteen, to wish the birthday boy or girl all the luck in the world for the coming years.

If you have decided on the beach, make it a barbecue. You could have a 60’s surfer theme or a Hawaiian theme. If the weather suits and you live near a beautiful park or a scenic area, you could always have a picnic. Make sure to bring coolers that are full of food and drinks and umbrellas for the table to keep the food safe and out of the sun. And don’t forget tablecloths, plates, cutlery and cups in order to set out the food and drinks.

Preparation and Planning

The key to any good event is in the preparation and planning, so get out a pad and pen to keep with you at all times. Write down anything that comes to mind. Once you have settled on your type of party, get some magazines for ideas or go online. No matter what you need, you’ll be able to find it somewhere. Make sure to do your ordering ahead of time so there will be enough time for things to arrive or be made. Just make sure you write down anything you have ordered, when it is due to arrive, how much it cost and contact numbers for the supplier.

Invitations

When you are making an invitation list, it is very important that you do this carefully. You do not want to upset or offend someone by forgetting them. This is why I cannot emphasize enough for you to keep a list with you, that way you should have it all covered.

Birthday Scavenger Hunt For Adults

Making an adult birthday party a success does not take much. Of course you will have to go through the required steps of planning and implementation, but you do not need to be stressed. There are many ideas that you can make use when planning a birthday party for adults, such as birthday scavenger hunts. With a little time and some effective planning, everything can be very neatly organized.

Why Scavenger Parties are Fun… Even for Adults?

Scavenger hunt party ideas are very interesting, and though some may think that the game is only for children, trust me, adults too will love the game. As a matter of fact, scavenger hunt games have kept families interested for ages. There are no special requisites for anyone to win the game, however, there are a few things you need to have. These are:

• Quick presence of mind
• You have to be good in teamwork (working with other people)
• Ability to withstand pressure, and
• A keen eye to details

An Adult Birthday Scavenger Hunt – what to keep in mind

Birthday scavenger party is a great idea for adults because not only it helps in exercising mental acuity, but it also makes them want to squeal and run, just like you used to do when you were a kid yourself. This nostalgia makes the game more memorable, making its appeal time-less.
Now, here’s an important thing that you will have to remember. Though the game may be meant to let you relive your childhood memories, you should give appropriate credits to adults. After all they are more experienced than children. Give them riddles and clues that actually become a challenge to them instead to anything childish.

An Interesting Idea for an Adult Birthday Scavenger Party

Photo scavenger hunts are very popular nowadays, and they also can be considered as challenge. Players are not required to pick anything here, but instead they take photos. Put something more challenging, such as taking a snap of a couple kissing, or one of your male friends dressed as a female. The players are allowed to take as many pictures as they can in a specified duration of time.

An undoubted fact is that grown-ups do have a lot more experience than kids, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you always have to be a grown-up. Sometimes it really is stress-relieving to let go of your worries for a short time to recompose yourself. What more fun could it be than to play scavenger hunt games on your birthday with your friends? After all, the kid inside us is still alive!
